Soon we outgrew the home workshop in the backyard of our house.
The development of our company

Glass is my family’s tradition ...
For over four generations the art of giving glass a shape has been a major part of my family’s life. I was trained in the profession of blowing glass from 1985 up to 1987, in order to keep
the tradition started by my grandfather and great-grandfather alive.
My professional training was very extensive, both in the free-forming of solid glass and the blowing of hollow glass. After the German reunification and the foundation of my company I started to specialize in manufacturing glass figurines for Christmas trees.

In 1991 an unusual find in the shed behind our house proved to be very lucky: My grandfather’s and great-grandfather’s porcelain-molds were found stored in a wooden box, which had been remaining for decades. The oldest and most famous models of glass-birds from Lauscha were also in the box.

My ornaments connect me with the history of both my family and town and allow me to honor them and create future memories for families all over the world.

In October 1991, my company started manufacturing glass ornaments, thanks to the old molds that had been found and my mother’s knowledge about the craft. She could still remember the steps of her father’s work from her childhood.
In 1997 – the year of the 400th anniversary of Lauscha’s foundation – we started to build a larger glass-blowing workshop at Kreuzstraße 18. Here interested visitors have been able to watch the production of original Christmas tree ornaments from Lauscha. All this is done step by step, the first one being the heating the transparent glass tube in a thunderous flame. The silvering and the painting add a sparkling finish to the ornaments.
